Edgar Mitchell – Antares

Apollo 14’s lunar module, the Antares is seen in this artsy shot resting on the plain at Fra Mauro with the sun rising over it, the LM’s Kapton gold thermal shielding sparkling in the backlight. Lunar landings always occurred at a low sun angle to maximize ground relief and with their windows facing away from the bright sun. Signed in silver in the LM’s shadow.

Printed on Fuji Crystal Archive paper, as are all our photos. The finest for color and longevity.
