Bruce McCandless – MMU

The most popular photo from the space shuttle era, Capt. Bruce McCandless is photographed untethered, flying the Manned Maneuvering Unit (MMU) in 1984 that he helped to develop. McCandless had been in the astronaut corps as part of the final Apollo group. He has signed in silver, and added “Best Wishes” on the 8×10 and “Reach for the Stars” on the 16×20.
